Vera McGrath has being drawing since she could first hold a crayon. Qualifying at 20 as a primary school teacher, she returned to NCAD for evening classes in Life Drawing for several years while living and working in Dublin. Later, she began to hire models privately and through her arts contacts, met several performers who were kind enough to invite her into their work/rehearsal spaces and studios. While teaching, Vera was dedicated to the arts and used the arts extensively in her teaching. In 2009 she qualified as a Visual Arts facilitator through the ATECI. The same year she embarked on her Masters degree (MAVA) in NCAD which was awarded in 2011. She took a number of years out of teaching to work full time as an artist and now teaches in Learning Support/Resource half-time. She has delivered extensive CPD (Continual Professional Development) for teachers in the Arts in general and in Visual Art in particular, initially through Monaghan Educaton Centre and later nationwide. She is currently taking lessons with a ceramic artist in Co Monaghan in an attempt to get to grips with the potter's wheel.
